Experienced Community Social Worker – part time position, Wellington

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of older people?

We are looking for an experienced person to join our Older Persons Team, to support older people to live with safety and independence, free from abuse, and with meaningful lives in their community.  You would join a Wellington wide team of professional and dedicated staff who have a reputation for being a leading edge provider of social services.  The position is 27 hours per week, and will be based in Wellington.

Key attributes are;

  • Experience
    • supporting vulnerable older people with cognitive impairment
    • working with victims of suspected and confirmed abuse to support immediate and sustainable safety
    • of the principles of strengths based practice and restorative justice
    • working with mental health and addiction desirable
    • working within a multi-disciplinary health environment
    • relationship management and ability to establish and maintain multiple networks
  • Social Worker or equivalent qualification, with registration or membership of professional association preferred
  • Full clean driver’s license

Dr Barry Duncan – the co-developer of PCOMS (Partners for Change Outcome Management System) will be in NZ for 10 days in February. Thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Social Developments Capability Investment Resource funding stream, Dr Duncan will be running a 5 day Train the Trainers workshop in Auckland and a 2 day Supervision workshop in Wellington. In addition Barry will be meeting with some key people in Health, MSD and Treasury to discuss the significant impact of PCOMS on client outcomes.
